Open violation of Supreme Court orders on firecrackers — where is the enforcement?

Firecrackers continue to be advertised, sold and burst daily, particularly after 10 PM, despite Supreme Court restrictions. Yet, there appears to be little effective enforcement.

Depending on the circumstances, violations may also attract applicable provisions of the BNS relating to public nuisance, danger to public health and the atmosphere, and other offences.

At the very least, authorities must act: issue warnings, stop unlawful sales and bursting, and ensure compliance with Supreme Court directions.
